The neighborhood
Florida's City of Excellence.
Aventura is a small, dense, exceptionally well-run city on the northeast edge of Miami-Dade — a tongue of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Florida formally crowns it the "City of Excellence," which is the kind of municipal branding that usually means very little. Here, it's accurate.
The streets are clean. The schools are good. The parks are well-tended. The mall is one of the best in the country. The crime rate is low. The traffic, for South Florida, is forgivable. And the climate — for the snowbird season from November through April — is exactly what you came for.
Within five minutes by car
The Aventura Mall, the seventh-largest in the United States. Three hundred shops, a Bloomingdale's, a Nordstrom, a Tesla showroom, a JW Marriott, and a restaurant scene that includes some of South Florida's better Mediterranean and Latin American kitchens. Town Center Aventura — the open-air lifestyle hub — is right next to it. Publix and The Fresh Market are even closer.
Within ten minutes
Sunny Isles Beach, where the Atlantic surf is still walking-quiet. Haulover Beach for clothing-optional sun, kite-surfing, and one of the better dog beaches in the country. The Aventura Hospital and Medical Center for any healthcare needs.
Within twenty minutes
Downtown Miami. Wynwood and its galleries. The Design District. Brickell. South Beach. The Florida International University main campus. The Adrienne Arsht Center. Bayside and the cruise port. Miami International Airport (MIA), which connects to most of the world non-stop.
Within thirty minutes
Fort Lauderdale and its airport (FLL). The Ana G. Méndez University. Las Olas. The Sawgrass Mills shopping outlet. Beverly Hills Cafe. Gulf Stream Park.
What you don't have to think about
Walkability is real here. Publix, the Fresh Market, several good restaurants, the canal walk, and the Williams Island bridge are all within ten minutes on foot. For longer stays, many guests don't bother renting a car for the first few weeks.
